Out With The Old? Here’s A Checklist to See if You Need A New Car

You might be holding on to that jalopy of yours desperately in need of a new muffler and a paint job for sentimental reasons or because it’s classic, but you must know when it is finally time to say goodbye. Sometimes it just isn’t worth it anymore; it might be time to get yourself a new car. We’ve created a checklist to help you find out if it’s time to dump your ol’ rust bucket.

Safety IS an Issue

One of the features one looks at closely is the safety features.  This is especially an issue if you have a family as you want to protect your little ones as much as possible inside the vehicle. These safety measures include child lock, air bags and seatbelts. These days, there are numerous additional safety features created by each manufacturer tailored specifically for their vehicle line up. There is no doubt these can help save your life. If your rust bucket has minimal safety features and does not have a seatbelt, you might want to trade it in for something with a better safety system.

Too Many Gas Stops

If the gas boy or gas girl greets you thanks to your way to many visits to their petrol station, it might be time to consider trading in your car for a more fuel efficient one. Cars these days aren’t gas guzzlers like their predecessors and can help save you a lot of money in terms of your fuel budget. Check out the vehicles online and you just might see one that pleases not just your eyes, but your budget as well.

A Pile of Repair Bills

Listen, it’s perfectly fine to be friends with your repairman, but if you became friends because of the almost weekly visits to his shop, you might want to think about getting a new vehicle. You might be thinking you’re saving money by driving a rust bucket when in truth, you aren’t. With every visit and every repair done to your car is another wad of cash gone; it’s not justifying your reason for keeping your vehicle. Soon, the amount spent on fixing it will amount to that of a new car. Accept that it’s time to say goodbye to your car.

It’s Fine to Leave the Doors Unlocked

Before leaving their cars in the parking lot, most car owners would check the doors twice or thrice just to see if they are locked. After all, nobody wants their precious vehicle to be stolen from underneath their nose all because of an unlocked door. If you haven’t done this in a while as you think nobody would even care to steal something so awful looking it belongs in a junkyard, then maybe it’s time to consider a new car.

People Do Not Want to Ride With You

There must be a good reason why junior wants to be dropped off a block away from school no matter what the weather is. No, they aren’t embarrassed of you, but rather, the vehicle. Seriously, who wants to be seen riding a car with rust flakes falling off it? Give up. It’s time to get a new one.

A new car may be pricey, but in the long run it’s a worthy expense as it is one that can last you not just for a few days for years to come.
