7 Vital Car Parts that you should Check Regularly

Checking Engine

There are a lot of unseen or unknown parts a car has that are actually important in its overall performance. It’s not just about the wheels or the side mirrors, but also the brake fluid, brake disc, the radiator, and many more. Why? If you’re running low on brake fluid, your car’s brake system won’t work. If your brake disc is broken, you can forget about slowing down during a drive. If your radiator conks out, your engine, and basically, the entire goes out of commission.

That is of course unless you perform regular checks on these particular car parts. Getting them inspected by a professional mechanic or observing them yourself will greatly increase your car’s health and performance on the road. So what are these parts that need an inspection? Read on to find out.

  • Antifreeze/Coolant Level

The antifreeze is responsible for cooling down the engine. If it goes below normal levels, you run the risk of your car breaking down due to overheating. You can easily check the coolant level if the tank is semi-transparent. If it needs to be filled, do so with 50% water and 50% coolant.

  • Tires

It’s important to check your tires, especially the pressure, to ensure your car gets better mileage. If it seems softer than usual, it’s time to refill the air pressure. As a tip, fill it up to a level 2-4 notches above the normal range because as the trip wears the tires down, your car maintains normal tire pressure much longer.

  • Oil dipstick

The right amount of oil in your car keeps it running well. Conversely, lack of oil has the inverse effect. That’s why you need to check your oil levels regularly. To do this, just take out the dipstick to see how much oil is in your car. Doing this could indicate if you need to put more oil or if it’s time to change it.

  • Air Filter

Your car’s air filter must be checked every month. If it doesn’t gets less than 50% of light when you hold a 100-watt bulb to it, then it’s time to change it. (zolpidem)

  • Hoses and Clamps

These must also be checked on a monthly basis. If hoses look bloated, worn, or stiff, immediately replace them before they cause leaks. Tighten clamps as well for extra measure.

  • Battery

The battery is the electrical power source of your vehicle. If it doesn’t work, you’ll have to buy a new one altogether. Get a battery tester to see if it still has enough power. Clean the contacts with a battery cleaning toothbrush too so that energy can properly pass through.

  • Brake Pads

Brake pads are responsible for slowing down your car on the road. Make sure they aren’t worn out. You can visit your local car shop to get it inspected.
