The worth of a vehicle can be determined by the different high-price parts that form it, may it be made from aluminum, glass, special fibers, or steel tubes. In the Philippines, motor and vehicle theft is becoming prevalent for the expensive car parts that sum up each automobile.

Don’t worry, you’re not completely vulnerable. Here are some simple ways you can decrease the possibility of your car being stolen.

Bring Your Car Keys with You

These seems obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people fail to do this. Approximately 13% of the stolen vehicles has its keys on them, making it easier for thieves to steal them.

Consider Where You Park Your Car

Park in a safe and well-lit area. If you need to park outside, choose a spot where there is enough and good lighting, or park in attended lots. Thieves do not want any witnesses for their crime!

Don’t Leave Valuables in Sight

What do you think makes your vehicle more desirable target to thieves? Extra loot. When you leave valuable items such as laptops, mobile phones, or tablets and it can be seen through your windows, this catches the eye of a thief. It gives them more incentive to risk breaking your car open. It’s best to avoid leaving any sort of valuable item in a parked car, but if you must, make sure it is covered properly.

Don’t Forget to Close Car Windows

Make sure that all your windows are completely closed before you leave your car. An open window will be an easy entry point for thieves. Consequently, this is additional reason why you should never ever leave a child or pet inside the car and crack the window open. It’s just not right.

Efficient Car Theft Prevention at Home

Cars can be stolen even if they’re already parked in your own home. Here are additional safety precautions you can take to prevent robbery of all sorts.

  • Invest in an alarm system
  • Consider having sensor lights
  • Consider getting a dog
  • Keep at least one light on inside and outside at night

Maximize Your Garage

Cars parked on the street are easier targets than those in garages or parking lots. If you have a garage at home, use it. If not, consider renting a garage or parking space to secure the safety of your vehicle.

Use Emergency Brake When You Park

Emergency brake is an automobile technology that increases the brake pressure. When you park, use your emergency brake so that your car is harder to tow.

Use a Steering Wheel Lock

Even you wouldn’t be able to drive if there’s a steering wheel lock keeping it in place! Thieves as well wouldn’t be able to drive away with your car, even if they manage to break in.
